And then there were BUNNIES.

Teeny Tiny Bunny

Teeny Tiny Bunny

Naturally, you make a bear you make a bunny, and then afterwards you start on your tiny baby dragons! Huh, that’s not the order? Oh well…how else does one spend their 25th birthday? With a crochet hook in hand of course!

Three  bears down, three bunnies down, and I have started on a trio of dragons to join the group. Not to mention I’m making patterns for their individual habitats. ^^ This pattern is proving to be super fun at the moment~

Had one tester for the little bear pattern, still would like two more and more names suggestions, although there are a few I find adorable. Thanks to all who participate, have a good evening everyone!

In Need of Pattern Testers!

Three baby bears

                                                                      Three baby bears

Hello fellow bloggers!

As usual, life keeps me busy. For the last three weeks I’ve been getting cozy in my new South Carolina home 🙂 For sure has been an adjustment, moving out of state for the first time, with only my husband, but I am loving it ❤

So lately I’m making our house a real home, and continue to pour all my efforts into my Etsy shop. Which leads me to this post~ I’ve made a new pattern, and would love to have a few testers 🙂

I would like one tester to do the pattern in spiral rounds, and the other to use the joined round method. Also I will give the pattern free to anyone who can come up with a name for these three! I can’t think of something cute and “Baby Bear Pattern” just sounds waaay to bland to me X_X

I’m looking for in-dept feedback from testers, specifically if certain parts are confusing/unclear. If you are interested, please email me at: mmorgan_01@live.com
FIrst come first serve, thank you in advance! 🙂

Come see all the Projects :D

Remember that time I said I would probably have time to blog more? Yea me too, that’s like every few months I say that!!
-_- But here I am again, over a month after my last post. Oh well, here we go with updates!

First off, thank you SO MUCH everyone who sent me lovely congrats from my marriage announcement, much appreciated! Married life is still fantastic, even though now my hubby is going through boot camp. I write him everyday, and once a week I get a batch of letters full of his love and support, despite that he is the one going through all the crazy training! Once in a while we get brief phone calls (~5-40 minutes) and I’ve never felt so proud or close to him than in those moments. He’s wonderful ❤

Enough mush! I actually have gotten around to do some crafty things in my new spare time.

amigurumi projects

1. Bee, Puppycat, and Catbug set: From the first episode, I have been in love with the quirky Cartoon Hangover series Bee and Puppycat. They have some crazy out of this world adventures, with Bee being the key source of humor. Haven’t seen them? Check out the original pilot episodes here. Catbug is from another series called Bravest Warriors. While Catbug is mainly a side character, his adorable voice and enthusiasm is hard to resist! He gained popularity after his very own mini-episode premier found here.

2 & 3. Baby Elf Hats: A while ago my coworker first asked me to make her a baby elf hat. At first I had no idea what she was talking about. After looking them up, I adore them! They are so cute, I had to make more. While I’ll admit the two in my shop are very basic, I’d love to take more time to make more that have my personal touch on them. Sure would help if I had a little one of my own to be a my personal model. Maybe some day~(but not too soon!)

4 & 5. Hello Kitty Dress Up Doll: Finally! After screaming how I wanted to make a dress up doll I accomplished it! There is actually only 1 doll, but she has two outfits, two wigs, and a pair of shoes. Extremely happy all the pattern tweaking paid off, I can make countless looks 🙂 Ofcourse, I had to do a Hello Kitty inspired outfit first.

6. Colored Pencils: I hadn’t expanded much on my Kawaii Kollection lately, but I whipped up a few colored pencils I wanted to make forever ago. Simple, smiley coloring tools.

Pikachu, Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur

I call these my lil’ Poke’Beans! I’ll admit, they are HEAVILY inspired by Disney’s Tsums Tsums which I find so adorable, (I’m surprised my collection is only up to 7). I felt the original Poke’mon characters would look equally cute in this form.

Lee DeWyze Doll Amigurumi Doll

Lee DeWyze Dolls

Who has heard of American Idol singer Lee DeWyze? I’ll admit I had no idea who he was. One day I got a custom order, and the customer really loved his video for a song called “Fight.” If you have a few minutes –> watch! While the song is catchy, what’s captivating is the entire video being acted out by two amigurumi dolls! They tell a hilarious and unique story of what happens when a guy forgets his girlfriend’s birthday. What starts as an innocent picnic date, ends with them escaping a UFO and falling from the sky. Very adorable, and the dolls are great actors!

Will all the Mochimochi Land fans, please stand up! Chicago based knitter Anna has had her work featured on just about every craft blog, magazine, or show I’ve seen. Her knitted amigurumi are incredible, such an imaginative mind she has. I recently found out she is calling for knitters AND crocheters to take part in her upcoming project, Project Gnome Diplomacy.  She will be creating an art project in Korea, and wanted little gnomes from everyone! The link I posted has all the information, including three different gnome approved patterns that can be used. Send her your gnomes before April 21st ( sorry its so late, I recently found out!) and your gnomes will be part of the fun! Since I am talent-less when holding knitting needles (sob face) I gladly went to the crochet pattern. If anyone will be doing the crochet project, I highly suggest using crochet thread. The gnomes must be 4” or shorter, but the pattern makes the gnome about 7” with regular size 4 yarn. With my crochet thread I made my gnomes in two hours, including all the distractions and snack breaks. I hope you join!

Upcoming projects will possibly include me actually finishing those two circle purses, another dress up doll, maybe Poke’beans since they are a snap to make, but who knows my craft plans always change 😛 I try, I really do!

Anyone out there an experienced/new Navy/Military wife? A month in, and I feel I have yet to even touch what being a Navy spouse really means. I’m sure things will get increasingly chaotic when I actually start moving around, living in new areas, having him gone for long amount of times…yea will probably hit me then lol. For now, I’m appreciating all these lovey-dovey letters he sends weekly, especially coming from a man who used to hate writing!

Speaking of which, time to send him another letter 🙂
Thanks for checking up on me ~ until next time!

Art Trade: Making Little Nila

image

I meant to post this last month, but here we go! Probably the most detailed doll I’ve made so far, meet Nila. She’s my second 6 inch “hand held” doll as I can them. She was done for a girl I met on Deviant Art, she goes by her screen name Mirayue.

Mirayu is a very charming and sweet girl from France who’s art style I loved so much I asked for an art trade. She always had cute designs for her OCs and right away wanted me to do her favorite, Nila who looks like this:

image

I love the way she colors and styles her characters. I REALLY wanted one, so she made me one:

My character, Hidama which means “falling star” in Japanese. She’s so adorable and turned out way better than I thought!! I wanted Hidama to come to life for nostalgia’s sake. Reminds me of that time in my life when anime, OCs, and role playing ruled me and my friends lives. Really helped us get thorough tough times with a smile on our faces. Mirayue really incorporated every detail and then and, I was very grateful, and added a few smaller drawings too.

In turn Nila was a pleasure and challenge to make. Specifically her hair and shirt. I used embroidery floss, which was good but underneath that hat it looks super sloppy. The shorts could’ve been sewn neater also. The shirt took forever to shape right but in the end turned out great, I even decorated then with swavorski crystals. An art trade fine well, very proud how things turned out 😀

Ok well I have to get back to work ;_;

Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Bowl Full of Baby Stars & Pattern

amigurumi baby stars

Yesterday I posted a picture of my new purse, and a lot of people loved the little star charm that was on the zipper. I decided to make a few more and share the pattern 🙂

All for this pattern goes to the blog Mohu, and a link to the original pattern is here. Mohu makes the tiniest cutest colorful cuddly creations and I adore her work. I followed her pattern but decided to take a slightly different approach to the final product. The original pattern is in spirals, but I did joined rounds. A personal preference, but if you want spirals just don’t slip stitch at the end of each round. Let’s get started!

SAM_0453

Needed:

  • Yarn size 4 (ex: Red Heart, Bernate, ect)
  • Any size hook will do, I chose 3 different ones to show size
  • White embroidery thread
  • Black buttons
  • Yarn needle and regular needle
  • Felt
  • Stuffing

Abbreviations:

  • Sc = Single Crochet/Single Stitch
  • St = Stitch
  • Spl St = Slip Stitch
  • Ch = Chain

Pattern:

  1. Magic Ring 5 sc. Slp st and ch 1 (5)
  2. 2sc in each st. Slp st and ch 1 at end of round (10)
  3. 3sc in next st, slp st in next. Repeat 5 times. Slp st and ch 1 at end of round (20)
  4. Sc, 3sc in next st, 3sc in next st, sc, slp st. Repeat 5 times. Slp st and ch 1 at end of round (30)
  5. Skip the next st, 5sc in next st, sc, skip, slp st. Repeat 5 times. Slp st and leave a long tail for the first star half, then cut.

With the 2.5 mm hook two sides should look like this:

SAM_0426

Next I used a bit of black felt, and cut two circles that were slightly smaller than the black buttons. Then with the felt behind the button, sew them on for the little eyes. I do this because it seems to keep the buttons sturdier. Make sure to sew tightly! If you want blush marks, sew them on now or do what I did and just add a little glue. Now sew both star halves together, only stuffing when there is only one star point open. Mohu stuffs them lightly making them very flat, but for some reason I like my baby stars cute n’ chubby, I shoved as much stuffing as I could in them!

And there you have it, a baby star is born. I keep using them as keychains, phone charms, decoration, they are so simple but add a colorful aspect to anything. The one on my phone I actually named “Baby Star” and will refer to him as a living thing haha…they don’t take too long to make. Enjoy~

Side Projects :)

side projects

Good morning!
After a good week turned rocky but turned completely wonderful all of a sudden, I’m in such a refreshing mood at the moment 🙂 Though I’d share this weeks side projects.

The first (and most fashionable) is my panda belt~

felt crochet panda belt millieoneherworld

I adore my panda dress, buuuut I have no idea where the belt that came with it went. So to improvise I decided to make one that was more theme friendly. Fits snuggly and great, I love using crochet to enhance my outfits heehee 😉 Next meet Yuzuki:

oc_contest_entry__yuzuki_2_by_milliemouse579-d7gtxgl

While browsing my Deviant Art page, I stumbled upon a few contests. On the Deviant Art world, there are countless artists who create characters commonly reffered to Original Characters aka OC’s that they use to portray themselves, or people in their stories, ect. There are always contest where they want others to put their unique style to their OC’s. I thought I’d use my crochet skills to recreate some characters. This is for yuzukipon’s OC. The best part is now I have another doll base, and I tried a new hair technique, which I discovered did NOT work out too well. The back of her hair looks good, but it’s pretty fragile. If she were given to a little girl, it would take little time for those strands to get loose. Also from another contest, I’ve made a handheld version of eubasta’s Purple Bunny:

purple bunny eubasta oc millieonherworld

Yet again, I had fun testing out my sewing abilities. I made her clothes and hair out of felt. While I feel the clothes are wayyy to underwhelming to be put on Mia or Nia, but I think on this tiny doll a simple outfit is passable. I made the sweater too big, but I’m okay with that. Using felt sheets for her hair was fun, better grasp of the anime style of hair. Being barely six inches, I feel like I finally have my “handheld doll” base.

That’s it for this week’s crafts. I’ve got a few blank hats made that I will finally get to decorating. Lately I’m so thankful that I enjoy crochet so much. It really marks a turning point in my life where I gained a lot of confidence to take chances and work hard to get what I want. I have to remember that it isn’t always that easy, but never impossible.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!
❤ Millie

My Newest Little (Crochet) Girl

Crochet Mia by Millieonherworld

As usual, I have taken forever and a day and then a few more hours to update my blog. Better late than never right…yea…maybe? Okay crafty talk now~

This is Mia 😀
Finally I’ve acquired the courage to make a doll out of crochet thread, and integrate felting into my crochet projects.

crochet doll hair on mia by millieonherworld

Mia’s hair was all needle felted onto her head, and sticks extremely well, you couldn’t pull it off if you tried. She’s got two braided buns. She’s 10 inches tall, has a crochet removable dress and head band, and yup, I’m thrilled! I’ve already started on her sister, Nia:

crochet thread doll by millie on her world

Well, Nia still needs a few things, a body, an arm, maybe a pair of legs…but Mia watches over her.

While I adore everything about Mia’s outcome, the biggest thorn in my side is her dress. That simple white and purple dress took COUNTLESS times to make, Originally I wanted a fabric dress- that failure led me to a felt dress – then to a crochet tread dress – finally to this normal size 4  yarn outfit. Not the worst, but….I feel I can do better before I place her in my shop.

I’ve been looking for a doll dress maker, I really want Mia to shine! My goal is to have her as a doll little girls can play with and have different accessories/outfits for her to enjoy. I even tried Barbie doll dresses on Mia but they are too big. If yourself or you know someone who can make a doll dress for a 10 in doll, let me know, I will even do an official business deal with them, anything to make Mia a star! 😀

Lately Mia has been my most recent completed projects. As usual, I’ve got too many going on. Making a surprise gift for my sister (she reads my blog so I can’t even tell what it is here!), scarfs, hooded poncho, various doll prototypes, headbands, there are things everywhere!

Since my last post I’ve also got my hands on a new quirky camera

fisheye 2 camera yay

The Fisheye 2! This is my first film camera and as the name suggests, all the pictures have the awesome fisheye distortion. Pictures also come out in little circles! The controls are extremely simple, but surprisingly you are able to do a lot of abstract effects to your photos. Have I taken advantage of this? No -_- I’m so cautious with this camera and afraid to “mess up a shot” that I haven’t used it much. And due to me taking it out the box before reading the instructions, the first few pictures on this roll are just of the inside of my purse. My first roll also consists of my friend’s leg, a cat in a dryer, my foot, and my boyfriend’s selfie. I’ll share the decent ones if they aren’t too ridiculous 😛

Life the past few months, what to sayyyyy…

-For a month I worked two jobs. Had a horrible experience with awful management, then I quit. On the plus side, I may have a great opportunity opening up that involve my crochet toys! Wish me luck, lots of shiny sparkly LUCK!

– I have lost 2 people: My Aunt Angela “Ankie” passed away in her sleep last month. She had been struggling with diabetes for the past few years. It was very unreal to hear of her passing, especially since I’d seen her a few weeks before. I felt an overwhelming sense of guilt for taking for granted the time you have with loved ones. When I last saw her, I went to take a picture of her but my camera died. I then told her “I’ll get you next time.” We never know when the last time we see someone will be, and sometimes I forget that. She was my uncle’s ex wife, but she continued to always be around, and would still even enjoy a drink with my uncle from time to time. Due to miscommunications, I wasn’t able to attend her funeral. I regret that also.

-A week later a “friend” passed away due to skin cancer. I say “friend” because he was more than an acquaintance, but I wasn’t as close to him as his other friends.  His name was William “Billy” Coney. He was my best friend’s friend, they grew up together, and I’ve known him as long as I’ve known her (11 yrs). Whenever he was around my friend’s house, we always had laughs, me and him even had some inside jokes that ran through the years. He was only 22. And going to his wake had to be one of the hardest things I’ve done this year. It took me all night to finally go to the casket to see him lying there. With the combination of his passing and my aunts, that whole week I was in a slump, trying to not allow myself to properly morn but eventually one day at work I had a mini break down. This month I’m doing better, trying to remember to tell those I love that I do love them.

– Happier note, I once again will be seeing my parents in Nevada! Since I actually work now I can only see them for a few days, but I am so excited. Just thinking that I will be able to hug my mom again is comforting. Or the fact that I still will crawl in her lap for a super idc-if-I’m-23-I’ll-still-hug-you-with-all-my-might hug. The sight always cracks my stepdad up. Last month my sister and I sent her a cute package that included  the crochet hats I made her and this gorgeous purple purse my sister finally gave up (my mom had wanted it for years!)

– Hair cut! Four inches gone 🙂

Man I’ve got to stop mixing crafty creative happy posts with my emotional rant posts lol. But then again I don’t blog for anything specific really, guess its just everything me 😛

How have the few months been for all you out there? I know I’m not the only person from the midwest who almost shed a tear seeing snow Tuesday morning, how depressing was that?! This year has certainly been weird, but at this point we might as well just roll with it 🙂 Hope everyone is healthy and happy and doing the best they can in life.

I should be heading to bed, but I think I’m going to finish Forest Gump. My first time watching it as an adult and omg, even more depressing than previous thought!

Just keep swimming,
❤ Millie
